Hey Everyone!
So I don’t know about you guys, but when it has been a crazy day and I just need a little… something, I always turn to coffee! It is basically magic in a mug! (Plus I can drink coffee from a super cute mug, but we will get to my mug collection in a different post!)
Since I started drinking coffee, (which is younger than I will admit) I always dreamed of having a cute little area dedicated to coffee. So when we bought our home, I was so excited to finally create our own little coffee space!
In our dining room we started off with a giant blank wall. I kept trying to imagine how I was going to put everything together and I really didn’t know where to start. I was pinning ideas, looking online, but nothing really caught my eye. Sure there were some things that I thought were cute, but nothing that made me think “Wow! I want to do that!”
So I began to feel a little discouraged, not knowing where to begin. Then I found the perfect little table! It just needed a little TLC, but I loved the detail and the potential it had! And the best part was that it belonged to my Sister-in-Law, and her and her husband were selling it! We got it about a month before Christmas time, so my husband and I decided to put off starting the coffee bar since we wanted to concentrate on the fact that it was Sophie’s first Christmas. Nonetheless I still put our little Nativity Scene on the table during the holidays, because why not?

We started off with a black wooden table with red distressed detail. The one thing I loved as soon as I saw this table was the details on the drawers and legs. I thought that with a coat of paint it could enhance those little details and bring a subtle and charming feeling to our coffee area!

Next was picking the color! I wanted to go for a chalky paint finish since our home has mainly rustic decor. Our house is very warm toned as well, so Josh and I went back and forth on what color the table should be. We thought about maybe keeping it black, or going lighter to white or cream, or even going with a light brown and then overtop it with a wax to make it look more like natural wood. However, I thought it would be nice to add a pop of color to our kitchen/dining room area, so why not pick a color? Josh and I love the color blue, so we ended up using Valspar’s Chalky Finish Paint in Trousseau Blue and then finishing it off with the Sealing Wax. The reasons I decided to go with Valspar Chalk Paint was because 1. They had excellent reviews and 2. Although there are many brands of chalk paint that I would love to try, they were all ridiculously difficult to find here in the Southwest. After using this paint and sealing wax, I could not be happier with the end result!

The funny thing about this table was the hardest part of it all was finding hardware that matched! Josh and I bought 3 different sets of knobs, visited Hobby Lobby countless times trying to decide whether cream or brass would look nice, and looking at different shapes and sizes of knobs.
The hardware we ended up going with we found at Lowes, and again I am very pleased with the end result. The black knobs add a nice contrast to the light blue table, but are simple enough that they do not steal attention from the detailing on the drawers.

After we finally got the table painted, sealed, and the hardware added on, everything finally started to fall into place. I had been collecting signs and decor I thought would be a nice addition to the Coffee Station, and looking down at a big pile of decor was a bit discouraging. I was completely unsure of how everything would turn out, or if it would even look nice at all. Thank goodness for my extremely patient husband who stood there holding signs up as I told him “No, switch those two” and “Lower it just a little.”

Now that everything is said and done, I am completely obsessed with our adorable little coffee bar! I am still working on how to style the shelves, butI really do believe that all the trouble was totally worth it! Plus it gives me an extra place in my kitchen to display some of my Rae Dunn collection!!
Thanks everyone and I will talk to you in my next post!
Where did you buy the shelf with the wire baskets and coffee cup hooks?

I actually had a friend selling a lot of her personal decor and this was one of the items! 😊 I know they have a similar one at Hobby Lobby!
